I'm in need of an advanced technical writer familiar with Linux enterprise systems.
Specifically, I need someone to write a "white paper" on the attached proposal. The company you would be writing about is Red Hat ([url removed, login to view]), and how they address security risks for operating systems, their
research and response approach, patch delivery targets (time from discovery of issue to release of patch), Patch
delivery mechanism, and levels of support for third party software updates. (Red Hat delivers patches for all software
packages included with RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux), and almost all packages available from Red Hat software libraries.
The paper will also contrast, in a general sense, though with room for specific illustrations, with the approaches of other OS vendors,
mostly proprietary OS (Microsoft, Apple, IBM, HP), though comments about other OSS Linux vendors may be appropriate.
I have additional sales materials and collaterals. You would NOT need to conduct interviews. I can do that, and
pass along my notes. I also think this paper would require a few revisions.
Regarding length, we're probably talking anywhere from 8-14 pages, but I can get more specific as I gather additional
information about the project. Additionally, this paper may require a couple of illustrations (graphs, tables, etc).
Regarding due date, we're probably looking at mid-October for final deliverables.
