I would like somebody to research the history of Melbourne, Australia for the purpose of providing guided walking tours. I'm looking to tell the story of the area of Melbourne City from pre-European settlement to present day. I want to bring the characters and personalities of the people who made Melbourne to life, amongst the places where they left their mark.
The emphasis of the tour will be on providing an entertaining narrative of the history of Melbourne. There will be an element of the theatric with major and minor characters being introduced and revisited. Anecdotes will prevail over facts, figures and dates.
The tour will cover approximately 11km of the Melbourne City Centre, and will take 4 - 5 hours to complete. 5-10 minute stops will occur at major places of interest, where significant parts of the narrative will be told. Other short stops will occur along the route where lesser places of interest will provide a backdrop to short anecdotes that add depth to the characters.
The narrative will not be a typical sanitised tourist script. Scandal, sleaze and crime will figure as prominently as historical accuracy. The target demographic will be 18 - 35. Attached is a KMZ file that shows an approximate route for the tour. This may be opened in Google Earth.
As a delivery, I require a collection of scripts that I can use for the tour, along with copies or links to sources and references. I am looking for approximately 20 scripts that would run for 5 - 10 minutes and another 20 "snippets" that that would fill in gaps between stops. Each script should include one or more suggested locations as backdrops. The route of the tour must be considered when developing timelines between related scripts.
