I am a non-native English speaker (Italian) and I am looking for someone to proofread my dissertation proposal for grammar, syntax, and clarity. I am looking to get a more polished draft to present to my advisor (he will still review and correct it), so it does not need to be the perfect final version yet.
Experience with academic writing is preferred. I do not want my writing to be overly "pompous" and convoluted like some papers, I want it to be clean, clear, and direct, but writing for academia still needs to be slightly different from other forms of writing.
I mainly need help with:
○ Convoluted and verbose sentences with the occasional “clunky” transition
○ Obvious mistakes (third person, articles, etc...) that I tend to miss when reading my own
○ My native language may influence my Syntax and choice of words, making sentences
“awkward” for readers
I am looking to receive a word document with tracked changes and any useful suggestions/comments you may have. I'm also open to any suggestions in terms of flow, logical order, or structure. In case you can't understand some sentences, feel free to reach out and check with me or make a note in a comment and we will figure it out.
The first job will be about 17 pages (5400 words, Times New Romans, normal margins, double-spaced), divided in three milestones:
1) 7 pages (~1800 words) introduction/summary of the overall work
2) 5 Pages (~1600 words) first part of Lit. review introducing core concepts
3) 6 Pages (~1900 words) second part of Lit. review introducing core concepts.
If we are both satisfied with the collaboration, I will soon have other parts ready. I expect the final number of pages to be around 80-120.
Below I am attaching a page to give you an idea about my writing so that you can decide whether to accept the job. I should also mention that timing is a bit of an issue, so the sooner you are able to do it, the better.
I look forward to working with you!
EDIT for Clarity:
The advertised word count regards "actual" words, without citations. After posting the job I realized that each page contains a lot of citations (on average at least 50 words per page) that do not need proofreading nor formatting (I will do that later).
Thus I added a few pages to compensate, the final job will be 6100 words. The "actual" word count will still be below 5400, but I wanted to clarify it to avoid any misunderstandings.
If this is a problem for you bid, please let me know and I will gladly delete the current job and re-post a corrected version of it.
Thank you for your understanding.
