Property Room Website specifications.
The purpose of the website is for the public to be able to access free property information over the Internet. Users can share information and files about properties for free, even write feedback on features of the property.
We intend to create a record of every property in a country. We will update recent sale prices, cv changes etc. The public will be able load files, comments and other information as they see fit.
Each contributor to the website would have to register their contact details and every item or comment uploaded would be tagged with their details so the source is visible to all other users.
We would like the website to be able to store photos of each property, which would be automatically obtained from third party web sites whenever the property is listed for sale or for rent.
Look and Feel
I would this site to look a little like google, with the one search box dominant on the home page where the user would select the property, street or suburb of interest.
Each property would have its own page where photos (up to 20) are displayed, files added and comments recorded.
The user could search by address, street or suburb and print of basic property information
The site is to be built in ruby on rails.
A database of all signed up users needs to be able to be downloaded into a csv file.
There are approximately 2.2 million properties going into the database.
The site will need the usual terms and conditions, we accept no liability for information uploaded etc.
As an administrator we need to be able to act on complaints and remove or hide posts that are complained about.
Updated property information will come in the form of csv files, so the website needs to be able to upload new property information, and where existing information is in place, the new csv will override the old information.
In the future we may consider charging foe downloading files from the site so some form of payment collection method should be considered but not implemented immediately.
The web pages should have room to add advertising banners and links.
