We require an app that will act as a middleware for when a client clicks on mailto: links as well as replace the default mail client on the windows PC.
When the client clicks on an mailto: link we want this app to pop up and have two options, 1 that will open a mail client on their computer (should allow us to select outlook, thunderbird etc, like browse to EXE in settings), or a second option that will open a webpage that we can also set.
What this app is replacing is the default behavior of software that exports images. It opens the default desktop email client, and pre-populates the fields of the email and attaches the file. The file is stored on a temporary folder until the email client is closed. What we need to do is keep that behavior if they choose to forward to their default mail client. The other option will have to open a web browser to a webpage that we specify. The app will need to also open the folder where the image is being temporarily held (we believe its in the mail:to parameters that specify where the file resides) so they can drag and drop it into the webpage that we are opening. Once the app that you are building closes, the original app that opened it will detect it closing and will automatically delete the exported image.
We would prefer that this project is written in C# or any comparable language, as it will only be run on windows environments. We will also require the original source as well as instruction to compile so that we may change the app if necessary for small changes.
A more detailed project description and instructions will be provided once you have been awarded the project. We also prefer to communicate over SKYPE for the duration of the project.
