Hi folks - i'm looking for some help with setting up my network so that I can get remote access to my network/PCs while I'm away on business trips, etc. I have a fairly basic network configuration today. (a Comcast modem connected to an Asus GT-5300 router, with a desktop directly plugged in to the router and all other devices on the network (15+ including laptops/phones/tablets/TVs) connected wireless through the router. I also have a set of hard-drives connected through the PC that i currently share with the rest of my computers on the network. I'd love to get access to those drives remotely if possible.
I'm not well experienced in network configuration (port forwarding, DDNS, etc.), so looking for someone to 1) consult with me on the specific outcomes that I am looking for 2) develop & implement (or walk me through this implementation remotely) & 3) assist with testing and validating access to the network remotely. (I can use a tether off my cell phone to simulate a remote connection from here).
Lastly, would love guidance along the way re: recommendations for a better network setup (if observed) and throughout the process keeping a mind on security to prevent remote access.
Thanks so much!
