Choose a Web 2.0 site/platform to which you have (or can gain) access. Write a short analytical essay which makes observations about the web 2.0 site and relates these observations to digital society issues introduced in this class. You will submit the essay in an HTML+CSS format. You might think of it as a substantial, analytical blog post.
To begin, choose a web 2.0 site for analysis. If you are unsure whether a certain web site is appropriate for this project, ask in the discussion forum on Avenue To Learn.
Now collect observations and analytical insights. You will find it easier to write a more substantial essay if you remain open to collecting observations and analytical insights in areas of focus that might not have been your "first choice" if you were, say, picking a theme.
Here are some areas of focus that we have touched upon in this class - but there may be other possibilities too:
-privacy and surveillance
-online identity formation
-security and insecurity (including hacking)
-internet history and governance
-copyright and intellectual property
-philosophies of reproducible cultures
-formal strategies in time-based and interactive media
