The project is to build a working prototype animation. The animation will be used as a "proof of concept" for teaching/demonstrating martial arts patterns online via animation rather than video. Video allows limited angles (usually one or two) and therefore less clarity for the viewer. The animation would allow the user to change the angle at which they view the animation/demonstration. For example, the animation would demonstrate the equivalent to this video ([url removed, login to view]). The prototype should be sufficiently detailed so that it can demonstrate a range of martial arts moves required.
Ideally the prototype will allow a martial artist user somewhat familiar with animation to easily create patterns of moves rather than requiring an expert animator to do so, so as to keep costs down and to ensure correct movements. If this is not possible, please provide an indicative cost for animating demonstrations (a range can be found in this playlist [url removed, login to view]). Note that prohibitively high costs of animation will result in this project not being financially viable to complete.
The subject of the animation is to be a humanoid figure in martial arts uniform. See [url removed, login to view] for an example subject. It would be preferable that the humanoid figure is general rather than specifically identifiable as male or female (e.g. facial features and hair is not required) as the intended audience is both male and female.
Note that the uniform worn by this example model will need to be modified to a top similar to [url removed, login to view] (pull on rather than wrap around). Please indicate if it will be possible to modify the texture of the uniform to inclued writing on the back of the short and a club patch on the from.
The humanoid should be articulated so that the animator can produce an animation of the martial arts forms.
The texture/colour of the belt should be configurable by the animator. This will allow the animator to create demonstrations of patterns for various belt colours.
The animation output generated should be able to be included in a web page or otherwise viewable via a browser. Please specify the output format/technology in the proposal.
If a plug-in is required, the name, cost and browser compatibility of the plug-in should be specified in the proposal.
When the user views the animation...
- The focus point of the animation should be the humanoid figure.
- The view point, or camera position, should be controllable by the viewer of the animation.
- The mouse left/right should allow the user to circle around the animation subject so as to be able to see the animation from the front, back and sides (or any other angle).
- The mouse up/down should allow the user to adjust the view point height, so that the animation can be viewed from above, below or any other angle.
- The scroll wheel on the mouse should allow the user to zoom in on or out from the animation subject.
- The user should be able to control the speed of the animation/demonstration - play, pause, speed up, slow down.
- Keyboard equivalents (e.g. arrow keys) are desirable.
Please indicate in the proposal whether each of the above points can be delivered and how they will be achieved.
The source/construction of the animation should be through Blender ([url removed, login to view]), or similar software if Blender does not support the requirements. If Blender is not be used, please specifiy the software name, operating systems supported and approximate cost in the proposal.
It is a requirement of this project that strict confidentiality be maintained, and that all intellectual property rights for materials developed will be owned by myself.
