have purchased (from Evermotion) two rather old 3DS Max models with V-Ray shaders and i need to get them into Blender, preferably via FBX. blender will not accept ASCII FBX, so it must be binary FBX.
however, in the end, what really matters is getting the models working with shaders in Blender. these will be background scenes for a two-minute live action film.

the job is effectively in two parts:
1) convert the test file to Blender; if it works, then
2) convert two buildings with exterior scenes (which is what we actually going to use)
