$20 - $50 per chapter translated.
Dear Translation Freelancers,
We are currently creating an IT manual for a Microsoft-based product and we require the translation of this English Manual to the Malay language for the Malaysian market.
We are looking only for text translation and please note that is the Malay language for Malaysia and NOT Malay for Indonesia.
The first manual we are designing will have between 15 to 20 chapters. We intend to pay on a chapter by chapter basis. You can expect about one chapter per week and this project will take 3 to 4 months to complete. We will allow up to 10 days for the translation of each chapter.
Payment will be made through the GAF escrow system every month upon successful completion and acceptance of completed chapters for that month.
Each section will have between 500 and 3000 words depending on the Module.
You must be fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and reasonably good English and will have a very good knowledge of Microsoft Word 2003 since maintaining the layout and structure within the Word document is important.
Freelancers based in Malaysia would be prefered since the accuracy of the translation as per IT use is Malaysia is important.
The job will be covered by a formal contract. You will sign a non-disclosure agreement and we will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work contracted. No General Public Licence, 3rd party components etc. is allowed. You WILL NOT be allowed to mention, use or display our copyrighted product anywhere.
Successful completion of this translation task can lead to more projects on a continuing basis. You should be able to speak English and if needed we can communicate by Skype Internet phone for this and future projects. We would expect you to have a broadband connection for Internet communications.
Please PM your quote per 100, 1000 or 10,000 words in US$ and cents.
We currently have a test page (2 pages of about 300 words with PC screen-shots) that we will use to test your translation quality level.
NO payment will be made for this test translation. As far as we are concerned if you are serious about your knowledge and commitment, you should be willing to prove yourself.
You will be allowed 1 to 2 days for this initial test translation to prove your knowledge and for us to make a decision on who to award the project to. Please note that the actual job will only start in June 2008.
The GAF project will remain open while we try and find the best person/price for the job.
Please note that our Customer Services Manager is from Malaysia and has a SPM (O Level) in Bahasa Malaysia and will be able to tell the quality of your translation. We also have a Malaysian Lecturer based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia who will advise us as to the quality of the work.
All payments will be made pre-escrow to GAF to show our serious commitment. Successful completion of this task can lead to more projects on a continuing basis.
