Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest (LSS-SW) envisions a world where all people can meet their basic needs and thrive. LSS-SW’s mission is doing justice, showing kindness, and serving those in need. This organization has lived out this mission for almost 50 years in Arizona, and currently works in five main program areas:
• Aging & Disability Services
• Children & Family Services
• Emergency Services
• Reception & Welcome (for asylum seekers)
• Refugee & Immigration Services
LSS-SW would like a total of six videos over the course of the next year.
1. Two 7-minute videos for the Building Foundations Luncheon (BFL), an annual fundraising event held in Phoenix in February and Tucson in March
2. Three 1-minute videos for our 3 Congregational Campaigns throughout the year
3. One 2- to 3-minute video as a digital version of our annual report
For the sake of this document, we will be discussing the two 7-minute videos in depth. The purpose of the 7-minute video shoot(s) will be to capture footage of three distinct clients in Tucson and three in Phoenix who receive services from LSS-SW. The footage will be compiled for use in two videos for LSS-SW’s Building Foundations Luncheon, the annual fundraising event for LSS-SW. This event takes place in February in Phoenix and in March in Tucson. Video production team must travel between Tucson and Phoenix for filming. Every effort will be made by LSS-SW staff to have the fewest number of shooting days possible.
The video should not be a fact-sharing video, but rather boil down the work LSS-SW does into the impact it has on the lives of real people. The stories must showcase the work LSS-SW has done to help each person in the video. The footage should be unscripted interviews of clients sharing their stories, as well as staff and volunteers interacting with clients. The sharing of stories should come from clients, as they share what it was like (1) before getting involved with LSS-SW, (2) what it was like to start receiving services, and (3) how their lives have improved since receiving services from LSS-SW.
The video will be a documentary-style shoot with clients being interviewed and sharing their experiences in their own words. Because the raw footage is unscripted, LSS-SW staff would like to play a part in deciding which of the footage is used in the final product. LSS-SW staff ask that there are no voiceovers, unless necessary due to language, in which case an interpreter will be provided. LSS-SW also asks that there is no unnecessary text on the video, no usage of stock photos, and minimal added graphics. Videos should feel natural and share emotion. LSS-SW staff would like to be included throughout the editing process as appropriate, with opportunities for revisions.
LSS-SW’s goal is to have filming completed by August, with the two 7-minute videos completed by December. LSS-SW will find the clients and stories for the videos, as well as scheduling the filming days, based on the availability of the production team, the clients, and key LSS-SW staff.
Our overall budget for the 6 videos previously mentioned is $15,000. Interested parties should contact Heidi Urbina, Community Engagement Manager at (removed by site admin). Please submit a cover letter and a sample of previous related work.
