IRS form 1040-ES help needed: We are an ordinary dual income family with a simple tax return. I have always done my own taxes (TurboTax). 2017 is different. I was fortunate enough to sell stock on 04/13/2017 (long term) and on 05/03/2017 (short term) for a gain of many times our normal annual income. IRS form 1040-ES is required in order to avoid penalties I believe. I need someone who has experience with calculating quarterly tax payments due to large one-time gains.
