Fix an importer script in PHP

I'm looking for a developer to fix a simple PHP that imports a DB to another. The script is working perfectly, but stops to import data when finds a special character (for example "Â").
The script is done in PHP and it's importing data from a SMF forum to a Vanila forum. Please contact me to get the sample of the script.
