We are currently seeking a seasoned Payroll Specialist to join our busy Payroll Department and provide comprehensive payroll support to our complex multi-state, multi-company organization. This position will be based out of our corporate office located in Tysons Corner, VA. Our office is located one block from the Spring Hill Metro stop on the new Silver Line.

The Payroll Specialist will assist in coordinating all payroll related activities in the processing and payment of salaries and wages, including problem resolution, process improvement, records management, and customer service.

The ideal candidate must have 3+ years payroll experience in a decentralized, multi state organization, and working knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour laws. Experience with Kronos and Ultipro HRIS is a plus.

Some duties and responsibilities include:

• Audit new hires/rehires in Ultipro and Kronos, including tax withholdings, DD, and the assignment of badge numbers

• Audit all terminations in Kronos ensuring removal of PDO, and DD

• Reviews hours and employee setup in Kronos, compared to employee status in Ultipro for calculating, coding, and other input errors

• Compiles, analyzes, prepares, and inputs payroll data using Ultipro and Kronos to produce accurate and timely payroll

• Monitors Benefit interface to ensure accurate benefit deductions

• Reviews various payroll reports and payroll register to ensure accuracy

• Verify pay for employees on LOA including STD payments and PDO donations

• Reviews and processes any employee garnishment ensuring compliance with demand served

• Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws

• Prepares management reporting as requested (benefit deductions, PDO, rosters, etc.)

• Prepares payroll journal entries

• Maintain current Payroll System training to ensure and achieve alignment with HR, Benefits, etc.

• May assist with the development of payroll policy and procedures, contingency plans, and process improvements

• Perform general clerical duties as need and for special projects including data entry, filing, faxing, bulk mailings, etc.

The ideal candidate must have 3+ years payroll experience in a decentralized, multi state organization, and working knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour laws. Proficency with Microsoft Office applications and intermediate level Excel experience is required. Experience with Kronos and Ultipro HRIS is a plus.
