You will be working with a previous developer’s code. He has since left the project leaving us in a rough spot. Therefore you MUST have a strong understanding of VB.NET. You code will NEED to be developed in a separate module and then called from within the other code that was written by the developer.
You will also be required to make the code readable and able to be edited by others. The timeframe for completion is 4 days - you will also need to available while we test the code for problems. We strongly recommend that you have some sort of IM program and be able to provide updates via email/IM on a daily basis. Also you must be able to speak English well.
1. We will provide approx 18 spreadsheets that contain data. It will be your job to add two blank columns and two/four columns that will contain data (we will provide the data) for all rows in the spreadsheet. The columns you will add need to be in a certain place within the spreadsheet, which we will provide. For example the two blank columns need to be in columns D and E and the columns that contain the data will need to be in columns F and G. Therefore you must be able to insert the columns pushing the existing columns to the right and NOT deleting the data. As mentioned earlier, we will provide the data that we would like imported into the spreadsheets. This is constant data so you can hard code into the code if you feel the need to.
2. Check the 15 spreadsheets for “0” (zeros) and replace them with blanks spaces. For example if a record has a zero in a field you would replace that value with a blank space. This would only before for fields that contain zeros and no other values (for example not fields that contain data like “01/12/07”)
