We are developing a Design and Content Management System for end-users. The system includes features aimed at photographers, affiliate marketers, and those wishing to get started in e-commerce.
The system does not use templates in the typical sense, as users are given the tools to create their own design, but users must select an existing design before they begin creating their own. Some users might choose to use this pre-existing design, and also we want to show potential users a good range of examples.
We want you to create some design templates / mini-site examples using our built in design tools. In short the process is:
1. Create a trial account
2. Add eight pages with pre-defined names
3. Set up some basic properties, including image albums (images provided) and a price-comparison (affiliate) category / product hierarchy
4. Create an attractive theme (color-scheme) using our design tools
5. Modify the design and / or layout of the template pages to suit the theme
6. Repeat steps 3 to 5 to create further templates
The application of all styles (background-color, background-image, borders, padding, etc) will be done using a simple styling tool. Although no direct modification of HTML and CSS is required, a basic understanding of these is preferred. Ideally you'll have some artistic flair, as each template should have an appealing colour-scheme. Also you should have the ability to learn new software quickly.
In addition to creating templates, you'll report any bugs in the system and might offer ideas for improvement.
Please note: you are not required to create any written content for the templates - you will be asked only to copy some small snippets of content for the price-comparison pages. All other content will be provided along with a number of images for backgrounds and content.
I would like to agree a fee for each template produced. If you can produce a nice first example, I will ask you to produce more. Please also note - I reserve the right to decline any templates that are not attractive, are incomplete, or are unsuitable in any other way, although I will give you the chance to rectify it.

Just to clarify. You will be creating these templates within an existing content management system with simple design tools. Depending on ability, artistic flair, etc, it should be possible to produce a template quickly (two-three hours?). The first template will take longer than subsequent templates.
The bids on this project are too high - between £100 and £200 per hour. Perhaps this comes from a misleading title, a misunderstanding of the task description, or the fact that it was very difficult to find a good skill match for this project. I selected website design, which is the closest fit, but I think it's misleading.

We do not need anyone to design a website or template from scratch and we do not need anyone to help with the design of a CMS. The CMS is already in place and provides users who have no knowledge of HTML, CSS, etc, with simple tools to style some web pages. The tools require some learning / familiarisation, but are simple to use. Someone without web design skills could learn to use them quickly.
We want someone to use those same simple tools to create some example themes. To reiterate - the task does not require HTML, CSS, scripting, image-manipulation, etc, skills or experience. We want someone to follow some instructions, use their flair for colour to produce some attractive colour schemes, and report on any bugs they encounter.
I am reluctant to supply links to the CMS in the project description, as it might be construed by Freelancer as contact information.
