Project Description

This submission is subject to GAF's approval. What we are attempted to do here is not exactly by the book, so we hope GAF will approve this listing. But it's a fun, innovative and interesting idea, so hopefully they will go with it instead of against it. :)

We already posted a project for the functionality (backend) of the site, so we are now solicting bids for the look for the site. We like the mimicing of the neon open sign for the business and that theme should be carried through to the new logo/look. (It does not have to be the orange on black, but it should mimic a neon open sign in some way. Color choices are up to you.)

Our idea is to make this a contest and award a win to the top 3 entries. You don't have to actually create the site, (but you do the graphics) just your idea of the look for the site. ie, it can just be a jpg, png, etc showing your idea for the look and feel for the site. Or you can submit a url if you use flash or other animatation. Note: we frown on too much "razzle dazzle." Something to give the site "flare" is good, but it should not be overwhelming.

The site is definitely going to be a business resource site for business advice, inspiration, help, humor, tutoring, etc. The site is also going to be a business announcement service. Saying "Hello World, here is my new business, please come and visit us."

We think with the right site and right look we can get people to come to the site to find out what is new in the business world. We envision this site to be where people come to find NEW THINGS. New technology, not "someday it'll happen" but new stuff that is actually available for purchase now. There is a lot of gizmos, technology, science, advancements that people don't know about. We'd like to be a portal for that ...

As such, the site should have an open, refreshing, innovative, inviting look.

That's what we are looking for.

I don't know if GAF will allow us to do this, but here is what I propose. We'll award $75 to the top submission, $50 for 2nd place and $25 for 3rd place as judged by us. So you can put any amount you want in for the bid, but we'll only pay $75/50/25 to the top 3 submissions. (or up to $150/100/50 of over 60 bids entered, see below) If GAF says no, then we'll have to figure out another way to do this, I know there are other freelancer sites that offer multiple winners, so I hope it can be done here. :)

Legal: This is work for hire. We are paying for the winning ideas. We will claim ownership of the copyright to the "images, swf (if used) and look and feel" of the work upon payment. If you don't win, you keep copyrights. If we don't pay, you keep copyrights. We are only staking a claim on the top 3 submissions upon payment. We will require the winning bidders to supply at least websized graphics (figure 1024x768 screens size) for the illustrations used or the code and graphics for flash based systems. This offer is based on a min. of 30 bids. If we get less than 30, we'll prorate the winning bids down. ie, if there are only 15 bids, we'll pay half of the stated amounts. However, if there are at least 60 legitimate bids, we'll double the offer to $150/100/50! (But they have to be real bids using original ideas, not copy-cats or junk submissions. We retain all rights to decide if they are legitimate bids and not junk. If there are 31-59 bids, we don't change the amount paid until 60 real bids are entered. If there are more than 60, we won't go higher than $150/100/50. In the case of submissions that are nearly identical, the first submission is the one considered. The 2nd submission can resubmit an idea if they want. We retain all rights to decide if works are nearly identical.)

Good luck to everyone!
