E-commerce - Erol to X-Cart Skin Migration

This is very much a project for an experienced X-Cart freelancer, please do not consider the project if you do not have relevant experience working with X-Cart and smarty templates.

My company has a dedicated server, with one live store already running X-Cart. We have a second eCommerce website, called [url removed, login to view], which is powered by Erol and hosted separately. The company that developed Erol software has gone into liquidation and we now need to migrate [url removed, login to view] away from Erol to an X-Cart store.

We have already created a temporary hosting account for the future site for the migration process. X-Cart has been installed and products have been imported into the database. The content has been imported from our current X-Cart store. Many of the products will be removed from the site, other will be put into new categories, with descriptions and meta data altered. At this stage this is work I intend on managing myself. I will also set up the various forms available on the current site.

The URL for the temporary account is: [url removed, login to view]~craigpla/xcart_sandbox/[url removed, login to view]

You will see that I have already started to implement the existing [url removed, login to view] template.

Just to give you some background information on myself. I have several years web experience working outside the industry. I designed and developed the [url removed, login to view] website and have run the business for my employers since 2003. The site has excellent page ranking and we are considered one of the leading suppliers of Fiamma goods in the market. I know my way around but am no expert. However, I do not have the time to run the business and undertake this project.

This project MUST BE COMPLETED in the next 4-6 weeks. The deadline is absolutely unbreakable because (without going into details) the current site will no longer be able to process orders soon after. The deadline will play a major role in deciding who gets the project.

1. To migrate the current [url removed, login to view] design to X-Cart.

A) I want the X-Cart store to remain as true to the existing store as possible. If there are ways to improve the design they should always be explored, taking into consideration the deadline.

B) The current design is not cross browser compatible, as there are some layout issues with versions of I.E. I have not had chance to take care of these issues.

C) I don't have that much experience working with CSS. I am confident that there are big improvements to be made to my work. I know that there are some conflicts with hyperlink display properties. It's nothing major but it's worth putting right.

D) Consult with me when needed to discuss positioning of block elements and any other relevant issues that may arise (not covered by existing design).

PROJECT SKILLS (as far as I can tell)

css, xhtml, X-Cart, php, smarty, X-Cart optimisation, knowledge of server optimisation for X-Cart an advantage (may have other requirements)

I am hoping that this project will help me find an individual or organisation I can really count on to take care of my X-Cart requirements today and tomorrow moving into the future.

Thank you for your time.
