Seeking a Web developer to build a new store based on a suite of Microsoft Commerce 2.0 technologies (Microsoft Commerce Server, 2009, Sharepoint etc…). The site will have a corporate look and easy to use. The store will be a refresh of the current [url removed, login to view] site with an expanded product range.
The bulk of the work in the project will be associated with setting up the Microsoft Commerce Server 2009 software, designing the template, configuring the product database, and deploying in a live environment (including security aspects). SQL database will be used to store detailed information on each technical product – detailed text descriptions, multiple images, downloadable PDFs, videos etc... [url removed, login to view], [url removed, login to view], [url removed, login to view], [url removed, login to view], [url removed, login to view] and [url removed, login to view] are good examples of the end requirement. It is planned to utilize as many of the ‘out-of-the-box’ features of the Microsoft platform as possible, and there may be s instances where these features will need to be extended programmatically if necessary.
Although copying and pasting details of several hundred/thousand products on to the store is not part of this store, potential bidders will need to define a process that will allow data personnel to publish product information onto the site.
Examples of sophisticated e-commerce sites based on Microsoft technologies previously developed by the bidder will be required.
Our choice of technology is based on the fact that we were recently accepted as part of the Microsoft BizSpark program [url removed, login to view], which allows small start-ups such as ourselves free access to all of their software and technologies license free for three years.
The vision is to utilise the very latest MS technologies to develop an impressive platform/online presence that will make potential vendors enthusiastic and anxious to re-sell their technologies on both new stores. From an aesthetic perspective it does have to mimic the sophistication, corporate look and functionality of large online sellers and all within a relatively low budget. I am an IT professional by trade and will provide detailed guidance at different stages as required and will actively engage.
Finally; I am looking for experienced developers with excellent knowledge of working on Microsoft live online stores, good communication skills from both a verbal and written perspective. It is important that the development cycle for the new site involves two-way communication. So the developer will need to actively engage and provide e-mail queries on certain features, ideas, functionality that are available on the reference site and how we would implement on the new Web 2.0 store.
Affordability is key, as many ventures fail due to large costs ploughed into the site development and no monies left to pay for online and indeed offline promotion. Also this will be a long term relationship and the successful bidder will be form an integral part of growing the business in the coming years.
