Development of E-Point (The system which combine web-shop site with App and POS).
E-Point System is a system which is mainly focusing on fast food take away and delivery restaurants. Its goal is to provide an all-in-one, innovative, safe, easy to use order handling tool for restaurant owners.
E-Point consists of three sub-systems which works flawlessly together. These three sub-systems are the following:
- Web-shop site with backend panel
- Smart Phone (IOS/Android) app based on the web-shop site
- POS System with offline mode
All three subsystems should have access to the same MySQL database on an Apache based server.
The web-shop site will consist of a front-end and back-end (Administrator panel). Both will be programmed in PHP languages with usage of java, jQuery, CSS, HTML, HTML5 where necessary to achieve the right functionality and user interface. The web-shop should be able to communicate to the restaurant to confirm order using a device such as “VeriFone VX-520”. This device is not necessary if the restaurant owner has POS system as part of the solution.
The Web-shop Front-end is the front of the restaurant and its main web-presence. It should provide the visitors and customers with the right information and online ordering functionality in an easy and innovative way.
The web-shop Back-end is the administrator panel and the place where the restaurant/system owner can do amongst others, changes to the front-end information, manage store orders, manage store customers, Send and schedule e-mails and/or app notifications to customers and devices with app installed, etc.
Smart Phone App
The Smart phone application is an app developed to support two main mobile operating systems, iOS and Android with main purpose to provide the customers with the same functionality as the web-shop site. The main pages of the smart phone app as well as its main functionalities will be discussed more in details in the attached project description file.
The POS system serves as the cashier system at the restaurant. It is usually used to handle orders from the in-store customers. The POS system has specific functionality to handle and display orders and data from the web-shop and smart phone app as well. It allows the shop owner to add new products to the web-shop as well as confirm orders received from the web-shop or app. POS saves all data on the same database as the web-shop and app but has offline-mode function which allows the POS to continue taking orders in-store when internet is not available and upload the data to the database on the server whenever an internet connection is available again. The POS system is installed on a pc with touch screen capability running windows platform. It has connection to a bon-printer, card processing machine, and cash drawer. In this part of the description, there will be covered the main pages and functionalities of the POS system.
