Hi. We have a custom educational website (built 12 years ago) that we're migrating to Wordpress, Woocommerce and Learndash.
We need someone to help customize the content release mechanism. Instead of a drip release schedule for our course content, we need new lessons to be released only after a user has marked earlier content as "done". So, for example, if there are 30 Lessons in a section, and a user is on Lesson #10, nothing beyond that lesson will show. When they mark Lesson #10 as "done", then Lesson #11 will appear the next day. (Lessons must only be released one per day.) So the system must check the progress status of the user, and only show content which is available to that user, and it must release new content at a predetermined time (which needs to be user-definable, eg., if they select 6am each day in their local time zone, new content will appear at that time for them), provided they have clicked "done" on the previous lesson.
If you have any questions about what we are trying to do, I am happy to answer follow-ups to help you formulate a bid price.
If you apply to this job, please let me know how you would approach this job, what your bid price would be for it, and how long you would expect the job to take. Please note that we have additional customizations that will be needed after this one (this one is the most crucial), so we are hoping to find a freelancer who can do semi-regular ongoing work with us.
Please do not send copy/pasted cover letters or resumes/CVs as they will be instantly ignored and rejected. We want someone with an attention to detail, who cares about their clients. So please start your note with "Done" so I know you've read this whole description. We are looking for someone we can work with long term. Thanks!
(Note also that I don't know what price range to put here (we're new to Wordpress and still learning its complexity), so if this price range is unrealistic, please let me know why that is so, and bid whatever you believe is appropriate.)
EDIT: We received over 35 bids within 5 minutes and exactly ZERO of the applicants followed the instructions in this job description. PLEASE NOTE: We are NOT interested in copy/paste applications. We have made some very specific requests here, and will not consider anyone who ignores them. Thanks for understanding, but we've been down that road before. :)
