I'm new to this site, but with 11 years experience with some of the biggest brands in many industries, I deliver superior results compared to Freelancer's existing "talent" pool. My client list includes: Nike, Cosmopolitan, UFC, Target, and Rodale Inc. to name a few. It's for these reasons I'm recognized as one of the leading branders working today. My formal education includes the Academy of Art University. Most designers on Freelancer don't have a formal education, and hence have no understanding of brand identity, color theory, or formal design principles. Portfolio

One image of a set of images for a photographer with the end goal of a magazine cover. Taken from raw to complete process in Capture One Pro and Photoshop.

The image was first partially color graded in Capture One Pro. A more cinematic exposure and shadow tinting was a focus here. The image was then brought into Photoshop for more exhaustive processing.

The image, along with several others was completed to satisfaction in an efficient workflow.

High-End Retouching: Beauty II

This is an example of a complete high-end recolor/retouch made for a glamour shot (beauty style as opposed to natural) .

The image was first copied, and excised with pen tool (deep etching), saved to a non-destructive smart layer, and a hand painted background was applied. The left arm was minimally altered with Liquefy. Extensive recoloring was done in Photoshop using adjustment layer masks of the following: levels, curves, exposure, selective color, and finally color balancing. The style here was intended to modernize the existing image.

Perhaps the most complex aspect of this particular image was the hair grafting. The original hair wasn't salvageable in its current state, and hair grafting was optioned. The hair used to replace actually came from multiple images, was warped, composited and then recolored.

Makeup was digitally painted in, before frequency separation, temperature and tone balancing were employed.

The final image was successfully recolored for print-ready output.

High-End Retouching: Beauty III

This is an example of high-end compositing with a distinctly grunge style treatment to the image as an end goal.

First a background was constructed with various images. The ground had to be "built" with skewed and distorted copies of desert mudcracks, and a clouded skyline was added. After extracting the body with deep etching, it was composited with the background. All images were desaturated, and individually hand colored with levels, blending, and selective color.

Leveling, curves, dodging and burning intensified all images, and high pass filters were added in layers for a hyper dark/HD look. Specular highlights and color cast were hand painted onto the foreground rocks/mudcracks. A red river was painted into the ground. Cast light was painted onto the fighter's body, as well as rim lights to further "sell" the unity of the scene.

Overall the image was successfully composited and the end goal of a grunge stylized image achieved.

High-End Compositing: HD Grunge

This was a retouch job taken from an initial shot using a poor, non-full frame image sensor. The initial image is lower resolution, and contains a great deal of ambient light.

I was able to salvage the image with several adjustment layers, and selective blurring, and resharpening to give the image a crisp, clean look. Pen tool selections and tonal repainting was required on some of the details.

The final image was repaired for professional output to web ads.

Product Retouching: Phone

This is an example of a wedding portrait retouch with a softened natural (non-stylized) look.

This original portrait was washed out, lacked color and differentiation. Some highlights clipped badly giving "blown out" areas with a loss of information. Overall the image looked underexposed and flat.

I initially worked in Lightroom, correcting for highlight clipping, and overall exposure. I then brought it into Photoshop as a non-destructive smart layer.

I immediately set up a levels adjustment layer, working on the underexposed tones. I then made slight repairs to recover some of the blown out highlights. Even with no information, I nudged it discreetly out of clipping range.

Using selective color adjustments I breathed life back into the temperature. I finished with a frequency separation, balancing facial tones, and removing blemishes, and removing fly-away hairs.

High-End Retouching Showcase: Wedding I

The client was a realtor who needed shots of his property retouched, with some manipulation. He needed a general retouch, and then both a lawn added, and the open fence to appear closed.

This was done seamlessly and efficiently using Lightroom's adjustment brushes to paint light onto the house's exterior facade, and then imported into Photoshop for the manipulation work. There, a lawn was added, and a fence digitally constructed using altered copies of the fence from the other side of the image.

The job was done to specification and the client was thoroughly satisfied with the result.
