I am a digital artist working in Scotland. I have an honours degree in Fine Art from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee, Scotland. I also have a decade of experience working for a Scottish publishing firm - mainly on websites promoting their children's entertainment products. I have experience working with bitmap and vector graphics formats, as well as website animation in Flash. I am proficient in the use of various Adobe products - specifically Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash. I also occasionally use Corel Painter for illustration.

This project was a faux-isometric, pixel-based adventure game was designed as part of a promotional event to tie in the Beano print publication and it's website. I was responsible for all of the design and implementation of the pixel art, alongwith concept sketches for all of the larger, vector-based 'pop-up' windows which were triggered by the player. I also liased with the programmer, in order to integrate the various assets into the game itself. Another fun project to work on, and it proved to be very popular with the audience! The first image here consists of a sheet of concept sketches for the 'pop-up' story images. The second image shows some of the final assets in pixel form. The last image is an example of four of the final environments ready to be placed into the game.

In my time in industry my skills were more biased towards illustration, website layout and Flash animation and now that I am exploring the medium again, I can't help but notice that there is a lot less (messy) paint involved nowadays!

The first image was for an e-book, but other commitments meant I missed getting my bid submitted. I was enjoying working on the image, though - so I finished it regardless. The second image was for a contest, I didn't win but I liked the image and it shows what I can do with vectors, so here it is. I worked at D.C.T. as a digital artist producing content for a number of the company's websites. Although this was the main focus for my department, we also provided content for many other areas of the business. My duties typically involved work on website layout, Flash games, website animation and occasionally illustration. Our projects typically involved a variety of tasks including pixel art backgrounds for games, vector art for web animation and tradional layout work for promotional material.
