Thinking about their home has meant translating into shared spatiality every need of such a family unit. DROPS is a project of a widespread resort, which touches the earth lightly, using wood and the structural typology of the gridshells. The gridshells are spread onto the hill (with a specifically designed digital tool), as if they were big, flowing “drops” distilled from the rock and held by the less steep areas of the ground. They are connected by a sort of a “river” that represents the main path. The timber grids arise from the hill, among the trees, and then they are “blown”, creating the spaces of the resort. The wooden cloth draws spaces that follow one another; it is born from the ruins of the castle (a restaurant and a precious viewpoint), and it stitches up the areas of the reception, the trekking point, the mediatheque and the rooms. Equipped terraces, spaces for contemplation and other activities usually featured in accommodation facilities, can be found along the path that climbs up the hill. The redesign of the routes multiplies the system of the square on several levels, making it a place that does not exhaust its function in the obligatory path of arrival and departure but also invites the enjoyment of events framed in the urban scene.
