Inspired by Microsoft’s re-imagine campaign, SAVE (Social Actions Volunteering Ecosystem) starts from reimagining the way users can interact with an application, and taking full advantage of Windows 8 features provides a platform for supporting a volunteering ecosystem. SAVE is balancing technological innovations with human centric design and an incentive based framework, in order not to be just a social network app, but an app inspired by social systems for social actions. Using a carefully selected rewards scheme, SAVE is targeting to offer reputation as an incentive to contribute, rather than winning of prizes. Exploitation of prize awards is also supported as external contribution that will however exit the ecosystem, in which credits corresponding to reputation points are the sole value. The initial idea was conceived by members of Quarinos during their study in TEI Piraeus and was presented in Microsoft’s Imagine Cup 2013 Greek Finals, where S.A.V.E. awarded with the third place.
