Here's my story:
The startup ecosystem was in its booming phase in India somewhere around 2014-2015.
Two of my friends completed an internship in IIT (IIT is the Standford of India) and started thinking about developing something in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision (this was in 2014-2015 when AI was beginning to be "the hype" in India).
Our on-off conversations are what got me interested and excited to begin my career with startups.
I decided to not apply for on-campus placements (that invited MNCs during that time) because I had decided not to begin my career with an MNC that had set processes. I wanted to learn how to thrive in uncertain environments, how to take calculated risks, how to develop sticky products, how to perform multiple jobs (I was the QA and BA for my product in the earlier days that became a revenue-generator in a year's time), how to handle customers and teams, how to prioritize features, what to fight for, where to let go, how to outsource and so much more..
And I'm glad I took a chance and learnt all of this :)
Since then I've been working on startups only (specifically the ones into product management) . :)
As a business analyst, I am responsible for developing and documenting business requirements, functional requirements, user cases, user stories and managing sprint activities and ceremonies.
I’ve hands-on experience in AzureDevops and JIRA to create and maintain product backlog.
I also have experience working closely with the UI/UX team and wireframing as well as prototyping in tools like Figma, [login to view URL] and Lucidchart.
With more than 5 years of experience as a professional Business Analyst, I understand what it takes to provide business insights based on data.
I have been commended for my clear communication style and my ability to translate complex data concepts into concise and meaningful reports.
I believe problems can be solved when you're in your customers shoes, doing what they're doing or if not that, atleast regularly seeing what they do.
This is also why I was awarded INDIA TEAM CHAMPION for outstanding performance, efficiency and coordination with the US Team and Clients in 2018.
I was also invited to attend user conferences (Cohere) at Anaheim, CA and Jacksonville, FL in Oct 2018.
Whether it be implementing agile-scrum, setting up processes, becoming the customer's champion, writing technical documentation or creating products that WOW customers, I can step in to contribute.
- Acting as a liaison between US and India team - gathering requirements from the US team, prioritizing them and passing them down to the development team in India
- Communicating with clients to onboard/assist them with the product
- Working with support to check for escalations, if any
- Sprint planning for new product development
- Answering questions of the dev team, removing impediments and ensuring the sprint is executed as planned
- Writing basic SQL queries to aid decision making
