Muhammad Afzal Zia is a medical billing specialist with more than ten (10) years of professional experience. He started medical billing career as assistant medical billing executive in a medical billing company in October, 2008 after completing MBA (Finance) degree and left that organization in September, 2012 as a senior billing executive to start career as freelancer. He joined Nicholas Dunkas, M.D., & Associates, S.C. as a medical billing specialist in September, 2012 and is still working with them.

He worked on inpatient, outpatient and laboratory medical billing services with different specialties likewise “Internal Medicine/Family Practice, Radiology, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Gynecology, Urology, Rheumatology, Physical Therapy, Neurology, Pain Management, Psychiatry, Psychology, Gastroenterology, Urgent Care, Mental & Behavioral Health etc. I also have working experience with all major payers including Medicare, Medicaid, BCBS, United Healthcare, Aetna, Humana, Cigna, Worker Com. and other commercial payers of different states including Connecticut, New York, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Texas and Kentucky, New Mexico etc. He also have experience with patient scheduling, provider credentialing, eligibility verification, charge creation, ICD and CPT verification, payment posting, obtaining of prior authorization, denial handling, account receivable, revenue cycle and practice management, etc.
Muhammad Afzal Zia participated and successfully completed Medicare educational activity in 2015 for “HIPAA EDI Standards” and “Medicare Fraud and Abuse.”
