I have been an academic at Pakistan's top-ranked engineering university, since 2013. Currently, I am located in the UK, as a stay-home-dad. I received a Master's degree in Parallel and Distributed Systems and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Grenoble University, France, in 2009 and 2013. In 2019, I worked as a Research Fellow on the modeling and simulation of case studies in intelligent transportation systems. My main research interests include the internet of things, computational simulation and modeling, data science and analytics, and applied machine learning.
My goal was to develop into an independent researcher studying computing and its related problems in an academic setup, but I feel that working in the industry is necessary. This would ensure that I have the sufficient knowledge and skillsets to manage all aspects of computing projects with a social and economic impact on modern society.
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses, supervise final year projects/research theses (both at UG and PG level), conduct independent research and funded projects, and relevant institutional services including departmental coordination and curriculum design, and review and program accreditation.
University of Malaya
Mar 2019 - Mar 2020 (1 year)
Teach postgraduate courses, co-supervise research internships, and research theses, conduct independent research and write project proposals.
Dec 2007 - Feb 2008 (2 months, 1 day)
Worked on the development of two projects at a startup:
1. MAGExS is an expert system developed for Saudi Aramco. It preempts failures in large industrial motors and generators to allow the company to perform preemptive maintenance.
2. DCI Builder .Net is a tool to generate customizable visualizations based on generic XML metafile for clients’ remote datasets.
