The thesis has targeted to explore the causes that led to the stagnation of fertility decline to reach the replacement level (2.1 birth per woman) from 3.5 1980 to 3.1 children 2005 up to 3 births in 2008 through the analysis of the determinants of having a third child. The study applied the Cox proportional hazards model mainly to overcome the problem of censoring data resulting from the incompleteness of historical data for women who did not reach the end of their reproductive age.

The paper presented at the European Conference on Quality in Official Statistics (Q2018) in Krakow, Poland. It demonstrates the role of the CAPMAS in increasing official statistics value in Egypt through two folds. First, enhancing statistics literacy for the different segments of society. Second, the indicators used to monitor progress in that field. The paper recommends collaborating with The International Statistical Literacy Project (ISLP) to promote statistical literacy.

National Implementation of the GSBPM: The Egyptian Experience

The Generic Statistical Business Process Model (GSBPM) has applied since 2013 in CAPMAS that includes documentation of all potential statistical operations in a standardized way. Despite the continued training and streamlining measures, CAPMAS needs additional measures to avoid overlapping and achieve a high-quality of the statistical business process. Align each department with its right phase in the model and raising the quality of documentation in each phase is the continued challenge.
