3D modelling - Design - Construction

I'm a carpenter by day, designer and fabricator by night. I live in the Pacific Northwest on beautiful Vancouver Island. From a young age I've been interested in the process of drawing and designing unique items and turning them into real world objects. This piece was design as a test for my CNC table. I wanted to see if it was capable of cutting aluminum, which it is. Although the handle features the logo of a pub local to where I lived at the time, it was never actually used in the pub itself.

This was a table commissioned and built for a client in my local area. It is constructed from western red cedar planks and a burl and spruce. The burl that forms the corners of the table was originally a circular shape. I cut the burl slab into quarters and rotated them to form the corners of the tables, leaving a ~1/2" gap between the planks and the burl. This was stained and clear coated before being delivered to the client.

This was a gate built on commission for a client. She gave me a general idea as to what she wanted, and I presented her with a selection of designs. The red cedar and driftwood used in its construction was sourced locally. It features a celtic knot pattern on the ring in the middle of the opening, and a planter box that runs along the very top of the gate.

This was a design for a personalized address sign built for a client in 2017. The design that she chose displayed the numbers vertically. The silver colour of the eyes and numbers in the image was stainless steel, visible through the lighter olive colour which was marine grade plywood, with the darker colour being 1/8 thick red cedar.
