Upon graduating from the University here in Davao City, Philippines, I joined the banking industry for 12 years. As a Branch Accountant/Branch Operation Officer, I am in charge of preparing financial statements for the branch office of the company. I also need to adhere to branch procedures and policies, finding solutions to internal problems, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and balancing company sheets and statements. Right after my banking industry experience, I saw myself as a person with a passion for trying new things. I seek opportunities to try new things and believe that one should try anything before they decide whether they like it or not. I inspired myself to find a way forward, and create new experiences. Thus, it leads me to the Business Process Outsourcing Industry (BPO). I started my career as a Travel Specialist at People Support Inc. handling the Expedia Account wherein as customer service, I am handling inbound calls and e-mails from client's customers to order goods and services, create and edit travel reservations, addressing billing questions, submitting warranty claims, and obtaining technical support from customers. After 3 years, I continued my BPO industry experience, I was able to work with Creative Response as an HR and Admin Officer. My responsibilities include processing employee data, updating company policies, and assisting in the hiring process, and creating and distributing guidelines and FAQ documents about company policies. Then after a year I transferred to Tele Datacom as an Account Officer and my work entails lead generation; calling prospects and fixing an appointment; visiting customer's place; understanding the requirements of the customers and suggesting a product or service; convincing the customer on buying the product; keeping updated on the advancements or updates in the telecommunications industry; educating the customer on the use of a telecom product; coordinating with other departments; and attending meetings or training sessions on both product knowledge and sales. Then I also was able to become a part of Focus Inc. as a Finance Officer, also in charge of all financial and legal documentation and setting up the business for their new operation in the country. Lastly, I was able to fulfill one of my advocacies in life and that is to become an Educator in the Academe Industry for 9 years. As an Educator, it’s quite challenging since you should be a lifelong learner and be able to become a role model in the lives of your students and be able to provide them insight and guide them to have better lives in the future.
