## BIO
Hi. I'm an Edinburgh based software developer specialising, but not limited to, Linux and open source software. I have three years experience with my current employer, developing primarily in PHP. Over the years I've become accustomed to administering and setting up production Linux servers, particularly Debian and Suse distributions. I'm well aquainted with speccing projects from talking to clients and the overall design of a project, from conception to implementation. This tends to include shell programming using Bash/Perl scripts, Apache/Named configuration. Occasionally dip into Windows programming (Visual Basic). My database of choice is MySQL, but I have a good knowledge of Postres, Informix and (If I'm forced(at gunpoint!)) Access. I have a RAD approach to programming. That is, I develop in small steps, working towards an agreed specification, but allowing the client to view progress and comment on how things are shaping up. This reduces development time and ensures that there are no misunderstandings with the projects goals. If on a large enough scale I generally develop projects using Symfony framework ([login to view URL]). Again, this minimises production time and provides unit testing to ensure the finished product is bug free. Should you encounter any bugs after the project handover, I will promptly fix them free of charge. My web based projects tend to include Ajax and I'm well aboard the web 2.0 bandwagon. I'm particularly interested in small to medium scale projects as I have a lot of spare time outside my regular job. If you think we could do business please do get in touch.
