CAD Expert | Photoshop and Indesign

Engineering and graphic design looks like they're worlds apart but they are joined together by a common trait, attention to detail. While keenness might not seem important in engineering as problem-solving is, it does matter when it comes to drafting. I am a registered mechanical engineer and I have been using AutoCAD for two years now, with most experience working with shop drawings and editing MEP Plans.. I have also spent 5 years as a layout artist for the Philippine Collegian, the weekly publication of the University of the Philippines, where I finished my undergraduate studies. Here, I spent most of my time working with photos and illustrations in Photoshop and merging them together with their respective write-ups in the pages of the publication. Here is a list of things I can help you with, Autodesk AutoCAD: •2D/ 3D Concept design •Conversion of 2D drawings to 3D •Technical Shop Drawings •Elevation plan and Floor Plan •File Conversions (PDF to DWG PDF to DXF, ETC) Others: •Indesign - Newpaper and other layouts •Photoshop - Basic photo editing and conversion •English-Filipino/Tagalog Translation •Transcription I would love to have the opportunity to discuss your project with you. Thank you very much.

This was an entry for a contest but the name I pitched and my design did not win. This design was targeted for younger people and can be easily adapted to other variations of the brand.

These were some of the design studies I made when we were creating the template for our university's weekly publication. These are plays on a modern tabloid concept, where there are glimpses of the most important stories in an issue. Inside the newspaper, it is simple and clean, with a versatile 5x5 grid that can accommodate the rigid news pages, graphics-heavy features pages, photo essays, and infographics.

This storybook was made as a requirement for one of my undergraduate English courses, where we create a story in English and make a Filipino translation of it. Our group decided to make a story about bullying, and from there, we conceptualized its design of a notebook with illustrations that look like doodles. I created the notebook design myself and one of my groupmates made hand-drawn illustrations, which I then processed with Photoshop and placed on the pages of the book in Indesign.

These are samples of pages that I have designed when I was part of my university's weekly publication as a layout artist and managing editor (AY 2015-16). As a graphics editor, I led the layout staff in the creation of the template for this term. The vision of the editorial board was to create a modern, magazine feel for the publication with a focus on features stories. That's the reason for the front page having only the graphics for the main article of the issue.

This is part of my scope of work as a project engineer in a Kitchen Equipment Design and Build Company. All fabricated stainless steel kitchen equipment have to be drawn and sent to the client for approval -- examples of these equipment are tables, trench drains and shelves, as well as open-top ranges, ovens, and exhaust hoods.

Even though some equipment are standard-made with only the dimensions to be changed, some equipment are custom-made, designed and built with a special purpose., such as these two. The first one is a landing table for a conveyor-type dish washing machine, designed with a turn due to space limitations. This is also split into two parts for ease of installation in the confined space. The second one is a sneeze guard for a front of house servery, custom made to fit the food warmer on top and for ease of installation to the table.

My goal was to create a simple and cost effective walking cane and grabber for the elderly. For this I canvassed all possible materials and came up with this - A foldable walking stick with grabber made from scrap aluminum and bicycle parts. (I made this with Autodesk Inventor)

For the final product, I used scrap aluminum tubes and sheets for the body, bicycle handle for the grip, and bicycle brake system for the grabber.
