I have an Honours Degree in Architectural Technology, while at the moment I'm working on a Masters in renewable energy. I've done a variety of work over the past few years, including extensive freelance web and graphic design. The main reason for joining Freelancer is to make some extra money to get me though college, but also to get experience doing different types of work and working with different people.

Dooley Motors is one of the leading Ford dealerships in the South East of Ireland. They approached me to re-design their entire website to be a more accurate reflection of the brand's modern design. The new site had to be easy for the owner's of the dealership to keep updated, especially with the frequent changes in new Ford models as well as their own advertising campaigns. The site is based on the Joomla! content management system, with several modules and extensions being utilised to give the site the required functionality. The process of re-developing their web presence began a few months previous, where I was asked to set up and Facebook page for the dealership. This would boost their reputation around Carlow and create an easy place to share special offers and news items. I set it up as a business page with a custom landing page. The UgaIrish Project is a charity I am involved with, and was the very first website I built. It was time for an update though, and I wanted a simple website that would catch people's attention, but be filled with timeless content that needed the minimum of updating. Much of the content is the same as the original, simply rewritten to bring it up to date plus make it timeless. The number of photo's are slimmed down to just a few of the village and its people. Videos have been added, as well as a number of other sections that we felt were necessary to provide.The website is built using WordPress as a CMS, and works very well for our needs. Since this site was re-done, a Facebook page has been set up to deal with the continual updates throughout the year, leaving the site to truly be a place for timeless info about the charity. Military Museum, St. Dymphna's, Carlow. Our second studio project of third year involved some conservation work. We took an old church from the grounds of Carlow Hospital, which is now a military museum, and proposed to turn it into a mixed use development involving minimal intervention to the existing structure and using good-practice design details. The accommodation was to include: Office space Restaurant/coffee shop Bar Craft Shops Small Exhibition Space The program involved going to the museum, surveying it using instruments and photographs, draw up the building as it stands from our survey, then come up with a proposal to include the above accommodation. Once the new design was finalised with the lecturers, it was drawn up in elevation, plan and section, then expanded to include 1:5 scale construction details. Zamet Centre, Rijeka, Croatia. Our thesis project required us to choose a building anywhere in the world, but had to be modern and of a certain size. The idea was then to adapt our building into a different use and place the building in a different climate. This would involve changing the structure, the cladding and the layout of the interior. However, we were instructed to keep the form of the building the same; ie no extensions or major alterations. I chose an interesting mixed-use building from Croatia called the Zamet Centre by 3LHD Architects. The existing building comprises a sports hall, local community offices, a library and retail spaces.
