An Economic Crisis in Perspective: The Currency Debate and Uncertainty
Groundings-Ancients, vol. 5
In this article I compare the beliefs of prominent economists leading up to the 2007-8 crisis with those of the Currency debate, leading up to the 1847 crisis. The negligence and belief that business cycles had been conquered were remarkably similar in both cases. Failing to appreciate uncertainty was devastating in recent past as well as a century-and-a-half ago.

I reviewed Alan Greenspan & Adrian Wooldridge's recent 'Capitalism in America', with emphasis of three major flaws:
1) The myth of wartime "prosperity"
2) Terrible use (and presentation) of statistical data
3) The authors' deficient account of central banking during the Great Depression and the GFC
