I specialize in automated data extraction, processing, mining and statistical analysis. I run a small web scraping company utilizing our in-house developed tools and infrastructure allowing us to complete any data-related project faster than anyone else here. If you need some data scraped, I'm your guy. I have a Masters degree in Computer Science (2006) and I'm quite proficient with a number of programming languages ranging from popular ones like C, Python, PHP or Perl to more esoteric ones like various Lisp dialects or Erlang. I'm the author of a few popular open source libraries. I'm also quite competent at web development (both backend and frontend), having been a senior developer in a webdev company for a number of years. Unlike many here, I don't resell or subcontract projects; I get the job myself and get it done right. How (not) to hire a freelancer ------------------------------------------ Even if you're not interested in my services, consider the following tips on how to pick the right provider here: 1. Look for verified providers only. There is no reason a freelancer would not verify his account unless he's up to something shady. 2. Beware of subcontractors! People with hundreds of reviews, even though they might look trusted, are often running teams of underpaid Indian workers, or subcontract projects. This is especially true for accounts with reviews in categories as different as, say, database administration and interior design, or with accounts getting new reviews every single day. You will have no control over who's actually working on your project and no means of direct communication with that person. 3. Don't award your project right away. People placing their bids within minutes of publishing a project often fall in the category described above. By not waiting additional day or two you won't give real talended freelancers a chance to place their bids. 4. Ignore "copy-and-paste" bids. If a bidder provides no details relating specifically to your project in his bid, the bid was most likely placed by a bot or a guy who's going to subcontract it. 5. Only consider people with decent enough command of English. Should there be any problems with your project, communication problem is the last thing you need.
