Cartographic design for a 1.9 m diameter globe.
The globe has the following particularities:
1. Mecca is placed on the top of the globe (in the position of the North Pole);
2. grid lines are pointing to Mecca;
3. all countries/ major cities are oriented towards Mecca with curved labels.

The program reads the coordinates of each polygon node from a text file and constructs the polygons based on a another text file defining the connections between these nodes (topological relationship). After plotting the polygons the user can click in them. The number and the area of the clicked polygon is displayed on the console. The user can decide whether he continues to click in the polygons or closes the program.

The requirement was to use basic mathematical algorithms instead of Matlab's advanced ones. As an example the area was calculated using a formula with the coordinates of the vertices, instead of a simple Matlab function.

The program reads the terrain model from a text file and calculates the hilllshade based on user defined angles of the sun.

A MATLAB program created to calculate the seismic response of a simple industrial building. The graphic user interface is designed to allow the user to input geometric and material properties, to define loads and to choose an earthquake from a list of recorded historical data.

In the project are analyzed different methods for calculating volumes using ArcGIS 10. Besides the available software tools, an own calculation method is tried.
