Skills used: - Advanced modelling - Plastics - Design for injection molding - Interferences - Advanced sheet metal This is an old coffee grinder that was being thrown out. I rescued it from the garbage so that I rip it apart and reverse-engineer it. It was a great project for practice, since it posed a lot of design challenges. Surface and solid modelling formed the backbones of most of the plastic parts. Tiny sheet metal parts made up a lot of the inner support work. With SolidWorks, it`s really easy to prepare plastics for injection molding. Assemblies sometimes involve the tedious process of putting the parts together, and then going back to edit them several times. With SolidWorks, this is made a lot easier with in-context editing and a good design intent from the start of the project. All of the parts in this coffee grinder fit together perfectly. Each individual part can be sent away to be manufactured, and the final assembly will fit closely and function properly.
