Hi I am based in Byron Bay. Four years ago I started my own software office in India where I develop software for my own Australian businesses. I am now supplying back office staff for many Australian companies for for $12.75/hr. I employ only top Software Engineers who are very well educated and have years of industry experience. They are well vetted Software Professionals and the majority of the team has worked for me for years. I pay top dollar over there in order to attract and retain the best. They can do anything and they do it brilliantly. They have developed all of the Information Systems from that my $20 million "P.A. Australian business is totally reliant on. The guys in my office are not the normal “Dodgy Indian Programmers”. There are no fake Uni degrees, no fake experience, no lies. The guys earn the equivalent of $150k + pa relatively speaking. All day they sit quietly and work on development. No surfing and wasting time. No facebook. They know they are well paid and well looked after. They just sit there and get the job done. They work better than any Australian developers I have employed. The office in India is my office - I started it 4 years ago. I pay the landlord directly. I bought all of the computers, furniture, UPS and I pay for the daily chai. Until very recently I have been producing software in this office for my own businesses only. I have only just started approaching Australian Software companies inviting them to use my team and put on additional guys. I now have 6 or 8 Australian clients that employ staff in my Indian office both on a full time and casual basis. I supply the office, computers, employee monitoring software, testing and selection of new recruits, and onsite management of the employees. Producing great software in India is very possible.
