Good morning, afternoon or evening.
I'm a recent Film graduate stepping into freelance film and video work. My skills lean towards the 'poetics' (ooooh) of film: writing, directing and primarily editing.
I'm comfortable editing in Premiere Pro, grading in DaVinci Resolve, as well as some audio editing too. I've editing experience in a variety of formats from narrative fiction and documentary to commercial and charity web content and montage.
A few examples of past projects include:
My own graduation film - a 14 minute narrative short film currently on a festival season
3 x hour-long episodes of a sort of 'travel-vlog' series I toyed about with
Videos for mental health campaigns
Other short films, sketches and holiday compilations.
I once had a dream that I was stuck inside a video editing programme, so though I wouldn't try it for money I guess you could say I've edited in my sleep. If there's a story, I can bring it out. Editing is as important and creatively involved as any other part of a story's life, and with experience of the whole filmmaking process I'm pretty good at working out where my work fits within a wider project, and how a tale might be intended to look, sound and feel.
I'm also a proficient creative- and copy-writer, I love language and crafting the perfect catchy sentence or seeping detail and meaning into scripts, and if you'll take my word for it even a failed essay from my studies, labelled a 'blog post', was praised for its prose. Though likely not for upwork (never say never...) I love film criticism (written or video-essay) and travel stuff.
Seeing as I'm effectively listing interests here, a few others are: the planet (very important), cycling - particularly travelling by bike, good food and cooking, great drink (not very experienced in making it), music (duh), film - indie or otherwise, languages, Italy in general, and more fun stuff.
This kind of work is social and depends a lot on relationships, and luckily most people find me to be personable and very easy to get along with. Hell, some would even say I'm fun. Communication is a key aspect of editing and I take it seriously (if not always in a serious tone).
And that rather effectively sums me up at this point. Here's to working with you.
