Animal Care Giver, VolunteerOct 2011 - Jun 2012 (8 months)
I began at A.R.T. as a volunteer before being hired as a short-term employee. I performed routine animal care, fostered injured and orphaned wildlife out of my home and answered rescue calls. I also designed promotional materials to drive donations, including a monthly digital newsletter and posters for food drives, wrote and proofread reports for granters, took photos for promotional uses, handled adoptions, and coordinated and supervised volunteers.
Educational Programs InstructorApr 2011 - Apr 2012 (1 year)
As a member of the zoo's Education Department, my job was to connect the public with the animals and build support for the zoo's mission of conservation. I supervised daily feeding encounters and led overnight camp experiences for groups no smaller than 15 people, mostly children. I also was asked to assist during seasonal fundraisers and special events. Part of my job included the opportunity to work directly with the animal care staff, helping them complete routine care and training sessions.
As a volunteer for this local nonprofit dog rescue, I write, take photos for and submit regular newspaper features promoting adoptions and assist during fundraising events. I recently started researching and writing grants for Shadow's Fund, as well.
Temporary EmployeeJul 2010 - Apr 2011 (9 months)
As a temp-for-hire employee, most of my assignments were clerical in nature, including work scanning documents to digital archives and organizing archives. I also checked loan documents for thoroughness, accuracy and truthfulness, and proofread corporate procedurals for grammar, punctuation and clarity.

After leaving A.R.T., Inc., I transitioned to working as a full-time editor and proofreader. Most of my work comes from local non-profit organizations, for whom I write, edit, and revise blog posts, newsletters, grant-related documents, and promotional materials. I recently built profiles on both and , where I proofread and edit a wide variety of materials,
Multimedia EditorSep 2007 - Jun 2009 (1 year)
I worked as part of a four person team that designed the news and features sections of this daily newspaper. I proofread both local and wire content for grammar, punctuation and style according to AP standards; local content also was checked for consistency and accuracy, as well as readability. We used QuarkXPress for page layout, and worked with photography team to develop interesting new designs for the front page of each section. As a multimedia editor, I also uploaded new content to the newspaper webpag
