Description: The KIDS system was a high visibility Federal project for tracking delinquent parents and collecting child care monies. It consisted of several hundred online programs and many batch/BMP programs. The medical system was primarily a mainframe IMS DB/DC system with some S390 DB2, AIX, and UDB. Volume was reaching over 100 million rows on larger IMS databases so we partitioned in to 3 to 6 partitions and also partitioned the indexes. Systems had 1000 programs plus.
Responsibilities:
• Attend HIPPA design meetings representing Tech Services Department
• Tutored 4 technicians on new tools and design techniques
• Worked with IBM and Illinois Data Center personnel to solve index RBA problem with IMS index partitions

Description: The Credit Card system was made up primarily of twenty four large VSAM files that were accessed through a common module that sent the queries to the right file. We converted these VSAM files to DB2 tables, some as large as 200 million rows.

• Attended months of design reviews with IBM team for accurate data conversion
• Met with assistant CIO from Baltimore on many occasions about progress
• Member of five person special team to design conversion effort of all credit cards from VSAM to DB2
• Met with system staff about tuning computer for conversion run

• Install MVS/DB2 and convert SQL/DS data to MVS/DB2 format for the Decision Support system

Description: IMS DB DC and CICS, DB2 Mortgage Loan Investor Commitment System consisted of many online and batch programs which captured Mortgage Loans and could package many loans into Commitments which could be sold to investors. The system operation involved scanning through loans to find fits according to specified criteria. The system was originally developed in IMS/DB/DC/TELON and later we re-wrote it in DB2/CICS/CSP.
Responsibilities:
• Represented System/development group in JAD sessions for seven months to design new mortgage loan system with IBM and upper management
• Met with IBM DB2 experts on several occasions to verify designs
• Managed development of new CICS/CSP/DB2 architecture system with 15 other developers and three DBA’s, tracking projects and hours
• Design lead with IBM on CICS/CSP/DB2 architecture and security design for the system
