We require xHTML/CSS coding specialists for overflow work. We are looking for a long term relationship and not just a once off project. Our standards are very high and we require someone that is a coding specialist!
Hand coded
- All code must be hand coded to W3C valid xHTML/CSS
- Table-less coding (only use tables for tabular data)
Cross browser compatibility - All work must render properly and be browser compatible with the following current browser versions of:
- IE
- Friefox
- Opera
- Chrome
- Safari
Plus:
- Pervious major rollout version of FF
- All versions since IE6 (yes, we know IE6 sucks but unfortunately still close to 10% of people use it)
Clean code. E.g.
- Free of repetition
- Keep XHTML tags to an absolute minimum
- Avoid excess code (e.g. use margin and padding instead of repeated <br /> and <p></p>
- Organized and structured code (e.g. define structure, define fonts, add colors & backgrounds)
- Code link pseudo-classes in this order: Link, Visited, Hover, Active
HTML Development
- External style sheet (the goal is to only have one CSS line on entire page: call to external style sheet)
- External JavaScript (the goal is to only have one JS line on entire page with no inline event handlers: call to external library)
- Semantic HTML structure
Pixel perfect
- The outcome MUST be pixel perfect
- Use image enhancement techniques (e.g. double border technique)
Validation
- We expect that all code is validated and perfect before it is sent to us
