Data Engineer - Tableau
$15-25 USD / hour
We're looking for the best Data Engineer, someone passionate about complying with and disseminating practices and processes to ensure data structure integrity, data transformation processes and data integration.
If you have at least TWO (2) YEARS of experience and have a Computer Science degree or similar title, providing wide knowledge on data engineering, structured data management working with SQL databases, Business Intelligence, and advanced design of dashboards using Tableau, and have the following knowledge and experience:
Design and implementation of data models.
At least 2 years of experience on data engineering or business intelligence applications.
Advance knowledge on dashboard design using Tableau.
Expertise on SQL and Business Intelligence (BI).
Deep understanding over relational database systems.
Expertise on efficient data flux implementations over distributed frameworks.
Native level or proficient in English (Written and spoken).
Is a must:
Engineering background (Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics, Physics, Control, etc), Mathematics or Statistics.
Knowledge on Big Data environments as Hive, Hadoop or Impala.
Expertise on centralized data repositories (Data Warehouse, Data Lake, Data Mart) by GCP, Azure, AWS or Snowflake.
Programming expertise in Python or R.
Expertise over other dashboard tools (Power BI, Looker, Dash).
Expertise on software versioning tools (Git).
Expertise with agile methodologies.
Project objective:
The client has a web application: the “Vendor Portal” which is developed in-house.
The application does not have “analytics” or “dashboards” today. The goal of this project to develop Tableau Dashboards and embed them in the web application.
These dashboards will be used by external users (by key vendors of the client) and by internal users as well (by employees of the client that interact with the suppliers).
Solution architecture:
The web application will embed dashboards pulled from Tableau Server
Tableau Server will host Dashboards fed by Tableau Extracts (not live connections to the Datawarehouse)
Tableau Extracts to be refreshed on a schedule every night, pulling data from a Snowflake Datawarehouse
The Datawarehouse is fed with data from the OLTP databases. The data is denormalized and transformed to generate a dimensional model (fact and dimension tables – which already exist)
