Finish off simple WordPress carousel function

I am looking for someone to help with amending this WordPress function I have made that shows a Bootstrap-based image carousel for all the posts in the 'featured' category.
It works fine at the moment and uses the default post title and Featured Image. I have created 2 custom fields - 'carousel-title' and 'carousel-image' (using Advanced Custom Fields plugin) and would like the carousel to use those if they aren't null.
This way the user can upload a custom image or add a custom slide title if they want to override the default ones.
Plus, it should skip the slide altogether if the post does not have a thumbnail nor a carousel-image - because the slider will show a blank slide for that post otherwise.
I have attached the php function which is 90% done - it just needs the above conditions included into the code. Is that something you can help with?
