Shop Colour Filter

I offer variable products that come with a Color attribute for variation. The Color attribute has over 500 values, including baby blue, claret, shingle, and more.
However, I can't add these attributes to the Shop filter because customers may find it confusing. They might not know what color "claret" is, and the filter would have over 500 values.
To work around this, I add a Color group attribute with values of Blu, Red, and Green to the Parent product. Where claret = red/ baby blue = blue/etc. This setup works well for both Variable and Simple products.
But, when I enable the option to display each variation as a separate product on the shop page in the Woodmart theme, the filter only shows Simple and Variable (Parent product) products. It doesn't display any variations as separate products.
I need a solution that allows me to show variations as separate products and filter them based on the Color group attribute.
