Isuru Nishan Samaraweera Projects Completed: August 2005 to August 2006 John Keels Computer Services Air Arabia Airline Reservation System This is a fully three tiered JavaEE based airline reservation system, being developed using open source tools and frameworks. For the frontend tier Jakarta struts framework, for the business tier ejbs and for the data access tier hibernate are being used. Spring framework is also being used to implement cross cutting concerns and eclipse is used as the development environment. JBOSS, Tomcat and Oracle are acting as the application server, web server and database server respectively. January 2004 to August 2004 Virtusa (pvt) limited Portal Server for Virtusa This is a fully three tiered application based on J2EE platform. Design patterns like service locator, DAO, Value objects, Singleton, Session Facade, Business Delegator, MVC were used. For the presentation layer Jakarta Struts framework and for the business layer EJB s were used. Tomcat and Jboss were used as servers. Log4j was used for logging. Xdoclet was used to generate EJB classes. Eclipse was used, as the IDE.And mysql was the database. This portal server has two consoles called user console and administrator console. According to the preference of the user he or she should be able to see different portlets, which represent different information systems. Also he or she should be able to rotate, close, zoom and close portlets. Admin console should be able to process users, portlets and roles and processing should consist of add, edit and remove functions. August 2006 onwards Lanka Software Foundation SAHANA Disaster Management System Sahana is an set of web based disaster management applications that provide solutions to large-scale humanitarian coordination and collaboration problems in the aftermath of a disaster. The applications and problems they address are as follows 1.Missing Person Registry Helping to reduce trauma by effectively finding missing persons 2.Disaster Victim Registry Effectively track disaster victims 3.Child Protection System Effectively manage children aftermath of a disaster 4.Organization Registry Coordinating and balancing the distribution of relief organizations in the affected areas and connecting relief groups allowing them to operate as one 5.Request Management System Registering and Tracking all incoming requests for support and relief up to fulfilment and helping donors connect to relief requirements [login to view URL] Registry Tracking the location and numbers of victims in the various camps and temporary shelters setup all around the affected area 7.Inventory Management System Effectively and efficiently manage relief aid, enables transfer of inventory items to different inventories and notify when items are required to refill. 8.Catalog System Captures information on different catalogues and measurement units. Which is used in systems such as Inventory Management System and Request Management System Work Done Developing and maintaining Disaster Victims Registry for Sahana Disaster Management System The SAHANA Disaster Victim Registry is a central online repository where information on all the disaster victims can be stored.Information like name,age,contact number,id card number,religion,race,displaced location,current location and other physical details are captured.Also victims picture and finger print details can be uploaded tothe system .Also the groupwise information is captured.This module can be used by any NGO/organization prior or after to a disaster.The customized version of the disaster victim registry was deployed in NewYork city as part of their disaster management plan. Developing and maintaining Child Protection System for Sahana Disaster Management System The SAHANA child protection system was developed to satisfy requirements of a NGO called Terresdeshomes which mainly focus on children affected from a [login to view URL] was deployed and a five-day training programme was conducted for user familiarization. Maintaining Missing Person Registry for Sahana Disaster Management System The SAHANA Missing person registry is an online bulletin board of missing and found people. It not only captures information about the people missing and found, but the information of the person seeking them is also captured, which adds to the chances of people finding each other. For example if two members of the a family unit is looking for the head of the family, we can use this data at least to connect those two family members Coordinating Sahana deployments Sahana is deployed in carious NGOS and government organisations in Sri Lanka .I coordinate the Sahana deployemt for the NGO called Terresdeshome in eastern part of Sri lanka.Currently I am coordinating the Sahana deployment for the government disaster management center. Custmozing DSPACE Document Management System for LierneAsia DSPACE is heavily used,webbased opensource document management system developed using JSP and Servlets.Original DSPACE was customized to match LiernAsia requirements.I was involved in design phase and implementation phase both. University Projects December 2003 Network Discovery Tool This project is based on simple network management protocol (SNMP). Java SNMP API and java swing technology are used as major technologies. Tool should be able to display the entire diagramme of the network including PC’s servers and gateways. April 2005 Multi language Form generation Wizard This project was done under the guidance of Dr.Gihan Dias. Project goal is to develop a multi language form generation tool and develop plugins to integrate with popular IDE’s like Eclipse, [login to view URL], and XML are used as the major technologies.
