An online web application, written in Flash using Flex Builder, which allows customers to design and order customized footwear. The tools cover a range of design features covering use of clip art, photo uploading and editing, hand drawing bitmaps and custom text with an extensive choice of fonts. The admin side, developed using Ruby on Rails with a MySQL database enables the client to access all saved designs for printing purposes. This website application had to be integrated with an Actinic backend provided by a third party for order processing.

Developed for a national youth based charity, the Envision website has two halves. The organisational side, encompassing a CMS and document management system, whose purpose was to showcase the work of the charity and provide insight in to organisational processes to attract funding opportunities. The 'teams' side is a full blown social networking site for students to blog, send messages and comments, create galleries and to participate in and report on Team activities. The development took place on the Ruby on Rails platform for the live website. A further requirement was the development of a desktop application, created using Flex and Adobe AIR, which synchronised with the data on the live website, providing bulk import of new users and teams. The application also removes and provides secure storage off-site for members private details and provides a messaging service.

The website needed to cope with a great surge of traffic on launch so I implemented page caching where applicable and did several rounds of load testing to ensure that the website was up to the job. The artwork was all supplied by the client as Photoshop files which I then sliced and wrote the code to recreate. I localised the website to allow the content to be read in up to 6 languages. The website coped easily with the large amount of traffic on launch, serving up pages with little delay. I was later asked by the client to create the html, css and javascript for their main football game, again with Facebook integration.
