This is just a sample of what can be found at my desk on an average day.

In this photo, I've been aiming to run a Beagle Bone Black from a salvaged ATX Power Supply.

The BBB can control the main power rails via GPIO interfacing and a Web Page for the Human-side interface.

The BBB will also communicate with a PIC Microcontroller on a custom circuit board via a RS232 serial link.

The PIC Microcontroller will then respond to commands to switch on/off some motors, fans and lights. Ultimately, sensor inputs will be connected to the PIC and fed back to the BBB for output onto the web interface.

The mini oscilloscope is to assist with debugging the serial link (which has since been fixed). Turns out, the optocoupler I was using to level-shift between the 3.3V of the BBB and the 5V of the PIC had a rise/fall time that was too slow... my square waves were far from square. A 10c transistor saved the day instead :)
