Contest Brief

We are an animation studio looking for remote freelancers able to work without too much supervision for future projects, as our current personnel need to focus on other tasks. There's a lot of animators around here, we don't know how many of them are still available, are not bots, or stole their reel, so we came up with this test.

We are looking for good staging, good timing, sense of acting and posing. Animators making use of moving holds, line of action, anticipation, eye darts and bend bows. We want to find the most efficient animators and get them on our talent directory. Obviously, we need the best talent at the best price.

We want you to animate a short test of the following idea:

-a man is receiving a book from somebody outside the camera
-opens the book as he contemplates it
-unexpectedly the man puts the book on his face and smells the book deeply
-lowers the book with a semi-ecstatic face

notes:
-you need to use Maya
-this is the expected payment for a scene of this kind
-you can send playblasts, no need for sending the scene file.
-we want western stylized/semirealistic animation (Pixar/Dreamworks)
-not too cartoony, we need moderated humour since is for drama short film.
-camera cuts are not necessary
-you can use any high quality rig you want, we recommend using 'RAY' rig from CGTarian and book rig from redesigndavid
